Tropes

This is a list of the various tropes and themes I use in my works. Please use these to help you identify the works you want to read from my books.

This story has a significant age gap between characters. This is generally more than five years, but depending on how young the main character is, it may be less. Different things constitute an age gap. Eighteen and twenty five is more significant than twenty five and thirty five. Note: There will be no underage age gaps in my works.

Story contains elements of BDSM (Bondage and Discipline, Domination and submission, Sadism and masochism). Can be light or heavy. BDSM may include kink, fetish, and other things. Be mindful of the specifics on what is contained in each story.

One or more of the characters are bikers. They may be causal bikers, or serious bikers in a MCC or even an MC. Either way, they spend a lot of time on their bikes, talking about their bikes, or their being a biker plays a significant role in the story.

Story contains the trope of one of the characters being "chosen" in some way, either by fate, destiny, or by divine intervention. This character may chafe against the chosen status, or they may embrace it. In all cases, it is always possible for the chosen one to walk away with their own free will, though in truth they usually choose to embrace the path before them.

A main character in the story is either a crossdresser or a femboy. Non binary characters who present masculine may be either. These characters generally dress their part in daily life, so they are different from drag queens. This is more than a performance to them, and is their chosen way of presenting themselves. This also includes those that are gender non-conforming.

One of the characters is a person of power. They may be the CEO of a successful company, or they may be a person who has inherited millions from an influential family. This could be the dominant character, but it just as easily could be the submissive one in the situation. There are certain dynamics that come with this trope, and money is often a huge factor, either gaining or losing it.

Story contains characters who are enemies in some fashion at some point in the story. These may be on opposite sides of a war, or they may be perpetrator and victim. These may be combined with other tropes, like Stockholm, non con, and other issues like that. The enemy that becomes the lover may never become a good guy, and this trope is guarantee of a redemption arc.

These stories contain straight or queer characters who are drag queens. Drag queens are different from crossdressing in every day life as it is a performance show. Drag queens may also be cross dressers, but they do not have to be.

Story contains a romance that ignites quickly. This may start out as a one night stand or it may be a romance that starts out as sex only. Fast burns may fizzle out or become even stronger throughout the story.

Story contains a pair (or more) who are united through fate to be together. These lovers may agree with their fate, or they may struggle against it. Fated Loves is not a guaranteed pairing.

Story contains a group of people who become family for each other. These may include romantic pairings, or they may be a polycule. Either way, the group supports each other in many ways as if they were actual family.

For one reason or another, the characters are forced into close proximity with each other. This closeness may breed contention, or it make spark a romance. It all depends on the chemistry.

Story is centered around or features a friendship that turns into a loving romance. This may be a quick friendship or it may be a long time friend that becomes a lover or romantic partner.

A common trope in romance, these stories feature one character who is moody, grouchy, or unapproachable, while the other, their eventual romantic partner, is bubbly, cheerful, and happy.

There is a war or battle going on between the side of good and the side of evil and the characters are caught in the middle. This can be on a global scale, or on a universal scale, or just within their small community.

Story is centered around one of the main characters suffering some manner of trauma or pain, and the other character(s) help the character heal from that trauma and move on in life. Many other tropes may be combined with this one, but it is most often in my works combined with non con.

Upon seeing the main character, the other character(s) are instantly attracted to them, and pursue them to try and date or initiate a romantic relationship with them. This can lead to Fast Burn or sometimes Slow Burn.

The story features a relationship between characters that are strictly male. These characters may be crossdressers or drag queens, but they do not identify as anything other than male. Please note, trans men are considered men in this situation.

Through some medical intervention, alien/supernatural biology, or simple difference in biology (as in Omegaverse), a traditionally male coded character becomes pregnant. May or may not include descriptions of birth.

One of the main characters is non binary while another is male. These may include polyamory and more characters, but the main couple is considered male and non binary.

There are no multiples in this story, as it is simply romance between a pairing. This relationship may be tested, and there may be other pairings, but the main relationship is between two characters.

This story takes place in a universe that is typically called "omegaverse" where there are three main genders, alphas, betas, and omegas. Omegas may be impregnated by alphas no matter their gender. Betas are "normal" individuals and operate under standard biology (cannot impregnate omegas, cannot be impregnated unless they are female).

Someone in this story is pining, either the main character pines for someone else, or someone is pining for the main character. Either way, these stories can frustrate readers in that it seems so obvious that the characters are into each other, and they just won't kiss.

A character in the story, either a main character or important major character is neurodivergent. Most often, this means a character is autistic, but ADHD may also be represented. These characters come from my own experience with autism and ADHD, and also from people I've worked with, so they are as true to life as possible.

This story contains multiple partners for the main character. These partners may have different types of relationships with each other, and any gender may be present. There may be anywhere from three partners up to large polycules which contain many various connections.

This story features a female character who becomes pregnant. The story may or may not contain birth details. There may be descriptions of pregnancy related symptoms and other issues related to pregnancy, including Post Partum Depression.

One character is rich or affluent, while the other is barely making ends meet. This trope emphasizes meeting needs, both financially but also emotionally. Often the rich character needs something more than money to make their life whole, and the poor character provides it.

Slow Burns are known for being frustrating, and can cause rage among readers, especially when there are obvious signs the characters are attracted to each other. Some slow burns take a few chapters, others may take an entire book.

These stories, though rare under my writing style, feature a straight couple. Please note, trans characters are their gender, therefore a trans woman and a man would be considered both a queer couple and a straight couple.

A main character is a sex worker of some kind, either an exotic dancer, a cam person, or someone that provides sex services. These characters often have their own lives going and fall for someone while working, or through their line of work.

In Strangers to Lovers, the characters don't know each other before getting involved with each other. This may be a one night stand that leads to more, or it may be a happenstance meeting. Associated with Instant Attraction and Fast  Burn most the time, but may also involve stalking situations that turn into dark romance.

These stories feature romantic encounters between multiple characters. These threesomes and moresomes take many shapes and forms, and may depict many different sexual acts, kinks, and fetishes.

A popular dark romance trope, this trope deals with victims who come to identify with or fall in love with the person who has hurt them. This can be someone who has been kidnapped, or it can be someone who simply becomes accustomed to the mistreatment and attaches to the perpetrator.

Why Choose? stories are a specific type of polyamory where the main character has multiple partners that do not have romantic relationships between each other. This may be mixed with BDSM and other tropes, but the hallmark is that the group who are involved with the main character do not have other relationships with each other.
